NEWSLETTER FOR STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC
CHAPTER #124 August 21, 2006

This was the first “official” meeting of Columbia Starriders Chapter 124 at Murray’s and it got off to a great start.  Cajun called the meeting to order and announced we will be meeting there every month.  They are willing to accommodate us as the group continues to grow.  They will be able to handle the Christmas party and even have a couple of menus for us to check out.

Cajun showed the new business cards for the members to get and pass out to folks who want to ride with us.  He also asked for volunteers for the Christmas decoration committee.  Vera, Gerri, Curt, Sue, Sharon, Leroy, Carrie and I volunteered.

Curt addressed us regarding the Young Harris ride and Carrie’s ride to Reed’s Gold Mine.  Both rides should have really good participation and a lot of us are excited about both.

Carrie asked for a head count for the gold mine ride and reminded everyone to bring cash as no credit cards or checks are accepted at the restaurant we are to stop at.  She also reminded the riders that helmets are required in NC and we should probably bring rain gear just in case.

I spoke briefly about the Georgia State Rally that Ricky and I attended and let the group know that there are members from all over that would like to plan joint rides, the Beaufort group in particular as well as some members in NC that are planning to form a new chapter up around Deal’s Gap.

Gerri announced that she may be able to take T-Shirt orders at the next meeting for those that missed last time, if the order is big enough.

Mike is trying to get the Beaufort overnighter planned, tentatively for October.  We have tentative room arrangements for $65.00/night.

Rick and Barbara won the 50/50

Vera mentioned that Sister Care is in need of school supplies and asked that we bring them to the next meeting.  She will get in touch with them to find out what they need.  She also asked who would be riding in the Christmas parade.

Lea made the treasurers report and said she will be checking with Murray’s on Christmas party prices so we can figure out what the charge per member will be.  She also has a few Starrider stickers and pins left to sell for those interested.

We had approximately 40 people present, including our guests William Howby, and P. T. Wells.

Respectfully Submitted
Andrea Collum, Secretary

PS;  Please forgive the lateness of this report.  I have been “computerless” for nearly a month and it just about did me in!  It dumped on me twice and I had to have my whole system rebuilt.  Twice….
