The Rumblings

NEWSLETTER FOR STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC
CHAPTER #124 January 15, 2006

Cajun brought the first meeting of the year to order and we began by having the members signing the new charter for 2007.

Cajun talked about Star Days to be held in Chattanooga, TN.  Members can go on line to make reservations for the block of rooms Star has reserved there.

Rocker patches are to be purchased through the chapter president the chapter rockers must be returned to the chapter upon leaving the chapter.

Star national has a gremlin bell that can be purchased on line.  For those who don’t know, gremlins are nasty little buggers that can mess up your ride big time.  When you are riding, the gremlins don’t like the sound of the bell, and when they cover their ears, they fall off the bike.   Gremlin bells are considered good luck, and they are even better good luck charms when given as a gift, so if you know someone who needs one, now would be a good time to order.

Ride waivers were passed around for everyone to sign for the New Year.

Curt went over Saturday’s planned chapter ride.  There will be several stops to pick up riders.  The group will be going to Aiken for some world famous burgers and then for tea and scones at a tearoom there.  He also asked anyone who wants to schedule a ride to e-mail him with details.  There have been several impromptu rides this month already due to the surprisingly good weather!

The treasurer reminded us that the 50/50 supports our charities as well as group functions.  Dick chance won the 50/50 this month, and then she gave the treasurer’s report.

Andrea thanked all those who helped make our Christmas party a success.  Many contributed door prizes and Shadow and Tassels were a great hit!

Vera announced the passing of Billy’s wife and the whole chapter extends heartfelt condolences.

Lea discussed ordering new patches since our membership is growing so much.

Curt mentioned that we need to check the guest book on our web site.  There have been a few entries that haven’t had a response and we don’t want to lose out on greeting any new members or answering any questions that may arise.

Carrie is pre-selling tickets for her women’s riding group.  Events will be at Jack’s on 02-17-07

Cajun asked for visitors to stand and be recognized; they were, Ken and Debbie Ellingson, Johnny Page, Jaclyn Rogers, Paul’s daughter, and Jessica James, granddaughter of Jesse. We are so glad to have you all with us!

Approximately 40 members were present

Cajun called an end to the meeting and invited everyone to take a look at the beautiful paint job on his bike.
