The Rumblings
NEWSLETTER FOR
STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC
CHAPTER #124 July 17, 2006
This meeting started a little differently than usual by virtue of the fact that when we arrived, we discovered that Captain George’s has been closed for remodeling. Rick and I called Cajun and Lea to let them know the situation and they got on the road to meet us at the restaurant. We waited in the parking lot to let members know what was going on. Members began showing up and while we waited for Cajun and Lea to come, we all enjoyed the camaraderie of our fellow Starriders. Not to be deterred, not one single person who came for the meeting left!
Cajun got there and called the meeting to order in the parking lot of the restaurant. We had 33 people present, including our guest, Billy Hornsby of Columbia.
The business part of the meeting was fairly abbreviated due to the heat. There was discussion from several members about future rides, including the Young Harris ride, the club ride Saturday led by Mike Griswold, the North Georgia ride, and planning of a future ride to Beaufort. There was literature available for interested members.
Gerri had some info on the t-shirts and there was some discussion on pricing of the short and long sleeves and sizes.
When the business portion of the meeting concluded, Jim Wood scouted out a place to eat and conclude the meeting. We all went to Murray’s, who very generously agreed to feed our motley crew and when we got there we were all amazed at the fast service and cheerfulness of their staff. The food was great, the wait staff super and we all enjoyed a great meal. Gerri got the club T-shirt orders and the roster was passed around to be signed. There was some discussion about moving the meeting to Murray’s as we are unsure of when Captain George’s will reopen.
In conclusion, we should all be proud to belong to such a dedicated group of riders. No one who came for the meeting left. What could have been a huge debacle turned into one of the most enjoyable meetings we’ve had in a while!
Respectfully Submitted,
