The Rumblings

NEWSLETTER FOR STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC
CHAPTER #124 June 19, 2006

The meeting was brought to order by Cajun, who thanked the membership for the many cards and calls regarding his recent surgery.

31 people were present including our visitor, Michael Cash

Cajun brought up having asked Rick Floyd to step in as our Vice President, and explained that Rick's schedule, which necessitates his being frequently out of town, makes it difficult for him to fill the position.  Cajun then asked for nominations for the position of Vice President.

Andrea Collum nominated Jim Ballenger.  There were no other nominees, the nomination was seconded, a motion made to elect Jim by a show of hands and he was unanimously elected.  Jim will do a fantastic job as our VP and we are lucky to have him accept the job!

Cajun then announced that Andrea Collum has accepted the position of secretary.

There will be a group ride Saturday June, 24 to Lone Star lead by Cajun.  Members wanting to join in need to meet at Exit 87, White Pond Rd, at 9:00 AM with kicks up at 9:30.  The ride will be great fun and I hear the food is really good.  After lunch the group will ride to the bike show at Carolina Honda.

It was announced that Curt is still looking for ride leaders.  Cajun went over how easy and fun it can be to plan and lead a ride.  George Parsons already has some good ideas to share with any prospective leaders out there, so come on and sign up!  Half the work is done for you!  Mike Griswold volunteered to lead a ride. Rick Floyd mentioned tag teaming.

The state rally is June 22 to June 24 and a few of us will be there Saturday to represent the group. We will be taking the Star 124 banner so we'd like to see a few more riders there to get behind it.

The treasurer report was given by Lea.

Ronnie Tunstill won the 50/50 and graciously donated a portion back to the charity fund.

Cajun asked about any more business and Jim Wood talked about the enjoyment and fellowship we all share as riders and asked us all to step up and get behind Cajun and the new board and make this the best Starriders group around!

Cajun spoke about the rides that Carrie Hadden led on Memorial Day weekend and how enjoyable they were for everyone who participated.

Rick Floyd reminded us to post impromptu rides on the message board.  It always works and at least a few riders are always in for a good day of cycling!

Lea had a big sale of Star 124 pins, stickers and the last patch.  There are still a few pins and stickers available at a discounted price for those who missed out.

The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30.

Respectively Submitted,
Andrea Collum, Secretary
