The Rumblings

NEWSLETTER FOR STAR RIDERS COLUMBIA, SC
CHAPTER #124 September 17, 2007

Cajun called the meeting to order and welcomed all the members and guests.  Our guests this month were Mike Cubbison from Orangeburg on a 2001 Roadstar, David McKee on a Kawasaki 1500 Classic and Sheila Siecinski on the back of Mark Siecinski’s All-American V-Star.

The newest bike in the group is Mike Griswold’s beautiful 2006 Royal Star Tour Deluxe.

It is black as night and absolutely gorgeous.

Cajun let us all know the Feed the Children truck will be distributing in Conway on October 6.  Joyce of the Myrtle Beach chapter is asking for us to come and help out.  Bikes and cages are welcome to be in the planned parade.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided in lieu of the usual President’s breakfast at the Golden Corral.  Watch the message board or calendar for more details.

Nominations for officers will be taken next month.  Sorry, no call-in nominations, votes

or absentee ballots allowed.  As a reminder, to vote or hold office, you must be a national member, so if you want to have a say, please join Starriders National.

Charleston is still looking for volunteers to carry state flags in the National Veterans Parade.  Please contact Jim Ballenger for details.

The treasurer’s report was given by Lea.  We discussed the menu for our Christmas party, and it was voted on and agreed to use the same menu as last year.  Murray’s did a great job catering last year’s shindig and no one went home hungry.  The price will be $10.00 per person, the same price as last year.

Craig won the 50/50

We let the group know ride waivers are available for those who need to sign them.

Lea and Cajun are going to be making a trip to New Orleans in October and will be coming back with a slew of shrimp and crawfish!  The group is invited to a Halloween party at their home on the 31st.  Shrimp and crawfish boils will be served up along with good company and gracious hospitality.

Curt let us all know that the September ride will be a Cajun Mystery Run.  Meet up at exit 82 at the Shell station off I-20 at 9:00 AM, and kicks go up at 9:30.

Carrie announced that we would do a corn maze run again this year the Saturday before Halloween.  The ride will depart at 3PM.  Watch the message board for details.  Those of us who went last year had a wonderful time.

Cajun spoke about the rides we’ve had and the joy and camaraderie we share as a group.

I went over the minutes of last month’s meeting.  They are usually posted but we were unable to get them up this time due to email difficulties.  The minutes were accepted as read.

I asked for anyone who hadn’t done so to place their t-shirt orders.  We needed thirty to get the quota needed and got orders for thirty-two!  Way to go!

I brought up the ride the Beaufort group is planning for October 7th for the Shriner’s Hospital.  Watch the message board for more information.

Cajun thanked everyone for coming, adjourned the meeting and we all headed to the parking lot to look at all the cool wheels.

Respectfully Submitted,
Andrea Collum, Secretary
