Hi Everyone!
Rick, Paul Rogers & I left for the last day of the rally bright and early Sat. morning at 5:45 am. The weather was perfect and we had a nice ride down to Charleston. We met up in N. Chas. for the poker run a little before 9 am with some of the Lowcountry members. We got our t-shirts and pins, and poker run sheet. Earl and Phyllis made us feel particularly welcome. The Poker run started at the C&W restaurant in N Chas., then we had a nice ride to the Cypress Gardens Boat Landing. We picked up tickets for the door prizes at each stop. The 2nd stop was Hawk Leather. They had some really nice stuff and a few purchases were made. We headed for the 3rd stop, Trevic, a bike accessory store. They had good prices and a nice selection of accessories. The best leg of the poker run was the next one to Champion Yamaha. It took us over the new Cooper River Bridge. If you who haven't gone over it, the view is fantastic, especially if you're a passenger and can look straight up. At Champion Yamaha, we pulled our poker hands, were served a good lunch of barbecue, burgers, chocolate cake and brownies. We were happy to see Jim Ballenger had arrived for the Show and Shine and meet & greet. That made four of us from 124 in attendance. Several groups were there, including Myrtle Beach, Beaufort and a couple of guys from Stone Mountain, Georgia. They got a trophy for coming the farthest. Trophies were also awarded in other motorcycle categories, including best in Road Star, Royal Star, V Star, non-Yamaha cruiser, custom, and semi-custom. I'm very proud to announce that Jim Ballenger won a beautiful trophy for best Road Star!!!!! During the Show & Shine, many door prizes were given out, and there were freebies for everyone. I want to thank the Lowcountry Starriders for their warm hospitality. They put on a heck of a rally that involved a lot of hard work and planning and whichever group hosts the state rally next year will really have to hustle to meet the standard they set!
Ride Safe!
